Pinelands' Enrichment Program will soon be starting up and one of the ways we'll be communicating with you throughout the year is by e-mail.  One of the things we ask ALL (new and returning registered)families to do is to confirm their e-mail address at mail@pinelandsenrichmentprogram.org.  If we have not received your e-mail confirmation we need you to take a moment and do so.  You will receive a reply email stating that your email confirmation has been received. By doing this you help eliminate 'human error' in translating addresses into the address book. So, click on the link above and send it now. Thank you.

Geology

(10:10 – 11:10)

To the Geology Parents and their Students:

Thank you for sharing your students with me during the 2011-2012 school year!

There are few books out there that present this fascinating subject well for the High School student. The text I have chosen is a college text which is written very well and is easily understood—far better than others I have reviewed. The only area which may need some assistance with our younger students is when it gets into the math.  In the homework assignments I have dropped most of these questions which should eliminate any issues of grading variances. Full text information is at the bottom of this letter.

I will prepare homework assignments for the year, on a 4-day schedule.  Students must keep to a daily work schedule in order to be prepared for class on Friday--a lab and/or lecture.  In order to earn a full credit of High School Science with Lab we must accomplish 125 hours of study –please keep in mind that I will have your students for 24 hours.  I will do my best to keep the homework to a 1 hour/day average but this is also influenced by student concentration.  I am  available for questions via email should the student need assistance during the week.

I intend to use discussion questions, open book puzzles, identification quizzes, and mini-tests on a weekly basis to give our students a taste of the traditional grading system.  There will be a mid-term on November 18th; a final on March 30th.  The Lab Notebook and homework will be graded.  After the final grading process I will supply you with a “report card” for your student.  There will be some homework (no term paper for the worried prior Bio student) over the holiday break in order to be prepared for our return, January 13th.

I look forward to working with your students to discover the fascinating, ever-changing world created by our awesome God.

                                                                                                 In Christ,

                                                                                                Krisan Lamberti
